Joachim Trier

Joachim Trier is a Norwegian filmmaker,  that comes from a family whit a strong background in the arts. His father and grandfather was also a famous filmmakers.
The films that led me to admire him were those of the Oslo trilogy. With the first, Trier gained international recognition, "Reprise" (2006), which explored themes like friendship, ambition and artistic pursuits. The film received critical acclaim, establishing Trier as a promising talent in the industry.

Another two films in the trilogy are my favorites by the filmmaker. "Oslo, August 31st" and "The Worst Person in the World" capture a subtlety that I admire and would like to have in my own scripts. Every conversation between the characters feels so natural and take you on a walk through normality with small touches of eternity, life and intense emotions.

What Joachim do is something that any melodramatic films would wish, using thousands of cheap tricks. Instead of resorting to flashy effects, he focuses on character relationships and honest conversations, resulting in a cinematic experience that feels so much authentic. Trier manages to create a unique and genuine emotional deep in his films. His minimalist approach and ability to explore difficult topics with authenticity are admirable.

Joachim Trier's films are a testament to his talent for capturing the essence of life and human feelings in subtle but powerful ways. His down-to-earth approach and ability to gracefully address profound issues make his cinema truly special and memorable.
